Aikido Yoshin Dojo is committed to professional instruction in aikido and all martial learnings. While the foundation for Aikido Yoshin Dojo is traditional aikido, the focus is “Professional Instruction for the Modern Warrior”®. The founder of aikido, Morihei Ueshiba, gave these last words to his students before he passed: "Aikido is for the entire world. Train not for selfish reasons, but for all people everywhere."
Aikdo is taught here with the reality in mind that today's world is as violent, or moreso, than it has ever been. There is a deep understanding that techniques practiced in a dojo environment are set up to succeed, and that the world is not as forgiving as your practice partner or the padded floor. There is the knowledge that modern weapons and mindset of today's attackers are simultaneously advanced in form, yet primitive in approach.
Fights are real. People get hurt. Protecting yourself and loved ones is as much about mindset and knowledge as it is about knowing how to fight. Our goal is to deliver to the student the tools necessary to see a situation before it unfolds, assess it, and make the right choices.
